I have an 88 with the mechanical lift and would like to add an aftermarket 3 point. What are my options for adding a hydraulic pump? I know that I could look for the hydraulic unit to replace the mechanical lift. I'm worried about getting a serviceable pump from a salvage yard. Could I power a hydraulic pump off the front of the engine using the fan belt? Or is there some way to power the hydraulic pump from the belt pulley unit? Would appreciate any and all thoughts.

I believe my son once bought an Oliver with a
hydraulic pump attached to the front of the crank with a chain coupler don't know anything else about
it. BUT I do know that loaders on ford 8Ns and the
like have a hydraulic pump mounted on the front
attached to the end of the crankshaft.

Yes you can sent up a hyd pump that runs off a V-belt or off the belt pulley drive but each will have its own little problem. The belt drive pully will stop every time you push the clutch in and the one off the cramk shaft will work all the time but belts do like to slip when pulling to much. BTDT and on one I have set up with belt drive the belt is always causeing problems
