My Super 55 Diesel is showing no oil pressure. I did not notice it as I was brush hogging for about two hours. I removed the oil filter from the cast Iron filter base, turned the engine over but no oil will come out. Can the pump be working OK but somehow have clogged lines. Any help will be appreciated. jerry

Yes there is a small restrictor in the base of the filter, and it can plug. Pull the baser off try again. Post back.

I recall you posted about a month ago. Is there enough oil in the sump? If there is, and the pump is not pumping it, you know what the probable diagnosis was from previous replies.

Thanks Larry and RAB. RAB was right on the money, I have been depending on the dip stick to watch my oil level. It has been in the working range, but I added 2 more quarts of oil this morning and started the tractor up and the oil pressure jumped up to 15 lb. Thanks Guys....jerry

Well that means someone has installed the wrong dipstick in your tractor. The easyest thing to do is remark you dipstick, or get the correct one. This problem is talked about in the service manuels and somehow dipsticks for 88's are being put in the smaller tractors.

That is one possibility. The other is a leak above the normal oil line (level). The simple way to check the dipstick is at oil change time. The manual tells you the correct amount of oil to completely fill the system to the full mark on the dipstick on level ground. That is the time to remark the dipstick, if necessary.
