We have a 2150 that the spin on oil filters always leak when the engine is started cold. I read a while back that there is an update to drill out oil passage to help the oil flow faster pass the bypass valve and redauce the pressure to the filter stopping the leak. I was wondering if you could provide me with information to do this. We have to overhaul the engine, so now is the time to do this. Any advice on overhauling the old 478 Hercules would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

On our 2150 I finally got the oil cooler filter assembly off a 2-135 and that took care of the problem.

Go to the "View Archives" at the top of the home page of this web site and click on it.  When the page comes up clik on "keyword Search" and type in "2150 oil filter leak".  You will find copies of the service bulletin that I posted some time ago.  This will correct your problem.

I need to do a little thinking. I remember you let them idle when they first start to help prevent that. I will also tell you I will be gone till Friday night this week. J.
