i have a 2050 and i have been having problems with it starting. just recntly had a new clutch put in it and since then it has not been starting good, in fact it will not start at all unless i use starting fluid. It also lacks in in alot of power. brand new fliters have been put on it and there is nothing in the fuel lines or in the sediment bowl. about 10 or so years ago the pump was taken off because it was lacking in powe then and the guy that work on it said there was nothing wrong with it. could the advance in the pump be bad? any info would be great

Make sure your pump timing is correct. I have seen them start hard and lack power with the pump timing off. In fact they will run at 180 degrees off, just no power and alot of white smoke.

Is the fuel shut off cable allowing the fuel to turn on all the way? That would be my first guess, unless some debris go into a fuel line.
