Hi,

I have a chance to buy an 1800D. I have always favored the 1850 but am wondering if this is also a good tractor for farming a fairly flat 75 acres. Thanks in advance.

You won't lack for power, that's for sure. That's the size farm that we used to work with a 66 and two bottom plow without thinking twice about it.

We have an 1800C diesel & it's a real workhorse.Pulls 5-16's ,4-18's plow,grinds cowfeed every week,runs batch grain dryer,etc,etc.One of our most reliable tractors.Great on fuel.

We have an A series diesel that we bought with a 5 bottom semi mount plow brand new. It pulled that plow until 1972 when we bought an 1855, and still pulls it when the '55 is on the disk. It's also been used on a model 74 mounted corn picker for years. It's a little overkill for the picker but it worked well. The 1800 is a good choice in my mind. Gary.

Kind of before my time but my Dad and Grandad had one. At various times it pulled a 16 ft disk, 4-16 semi mount plow, and 8 row planter.

They had an A series gasser and a C series diesel. Dad always said the gasser had more power than the diesel. Took a full time guy to haul gas to it though.

I am sure it would serve you well.

Should be. I used to have one and it seemed like a pretty powerful tractor. Never hooked it to anything big much as I kept trying to find the fuel in oil leak, Finally got it fixed but found something I wanted more... I know on 5 cylinders (one injector was really bad)it would pull a 14ft JD disk in 4th gear. Mine was a B series, the C series will have better hydraulics and the saginaw steering with tilt wheel.
