I have an Oliver 70 that seems to be really fast in all its gears. Someone told me that they thought that these tractors had an optional ring gear that gave fast speeds. Is this correct and does anyone have a slower one for sale? I would like to pull this tractor in our farm stock antique classes. Thanks.

Woops, that title should be Oliver 70.

I believe that if the gears are out of a standard model they will be faster than the row crop gears to make up for the smaller tires. You'll just have to get what you need out of another row crop.

Thanks. Maybe that is the answer because this tractor is super fast. I took it to a pull and it powered out within a few feet in first gear since it is so fast. So I will look for gears from a rowcrop version.

We go on a lot of tractor rides out here in Iowa. About 5 years ago we had a friend that worked at a tractor salvage place locate us a ring and pinion gear out of a Standard 66 that we put in our Row Crop 66. It took our top speed in 6th gear from about 15 MPH to around 30 MPH. It is faster than it was in all the gears including reverse. It has made our tractor more enjoyable for tractor rides. I'm sure there would be some people out this way that would like to have a fast 70.
