Hey guys sorry to bother everyone with my problem. Hoping someone can help. My 770 (gas) has a bad spool in the governor. The spool is ok except where the bearing rides against it ( I think it is called the race), it is pitted up there. It is a four piece assmbly with the spool, race, bearing and race. The race is pressed onto the spool so it almost appears to be one piece but I am pretty sure it is two. The pitting is the problem.

1. Anyway to fix this? (the pitting I mean) 2. Do you think someone can machine the part? 3. Does anyone have a used one they'd sell?

I have spoken with Korves and Maibach but they are unable to help. Any help is greatly appreciated. I am restoring my 770. Chris

I gave the race to a friend today. He has a good friend who can machine it to exact specs and he doesn't want a dime for it! So I believe my problem is solved. Thanks guys. Chris

Well I called the place where Tom works but he was not there, I spoke with someone in the parts department. No dice, they list it as unavailable and don't have one. I checked the race and it has no numbers on it anywhere. I have one off because it remains loose while the other race which is identical is pressed onto the spool. I can easily remove the other race I just haven't. Any other ideas? I appreciate your effort guys. I may drop the good race off at a machine shop and see if they can fab one. This thing looks like a thick washer with a small grove for the bearing to ride on. Chris

Is their a lip on the race that you could get a hold of with a inside bearing puller. There may be 2,3,or four indents under the race to make this possible where the race is pressed in.If you can get it out there should be a number on the back side.I know I am sticking my neck way out on this.Wish you the best of luck.
