Hyd oil in rear end

I've got a 1755 leaking hyd oil into the rear end. It's a pretty fast leak, approximately 2 gal per 15 acres of hay cut (2.5 hrs at PTO speed). According to the archives, this is "usually" caused by a leak from the pto assembly. Assuming that is the case... will it continue to leak if I don't use the pto? Another possible cause is an o-ring leak at the hyd pump. Can someone explain this one a little better? Is it an internal o-ring "in" the pump or what? Thanks
Scott

Go with the PTO. If you block off the line at the PTO control valve. You will stop the bleeding.
