Hey folks. I have a chance to buy this.
I am presently renovating a '58 550.

What should I look out for when inspecting this one?

What will be the biggest challenges for getting parts? Is it mostly just a Super 88 under all those extra industrial parts?
The motor is a 6 cylinder diesel 190320H 1k100E.
SN is 449.
Thank you for your thoughts and advice.

Does anyone know any good tractor-transporters in the NY/NJ area?

That photo is same as one sold on eBay June 30 for $2650 - are you the winning bidder or is this a resale or something that fell through? - just wondering since I have encountered a couple of scams trying to sell a tractor that was originally sold on eBay but was long gone.

It may be significant to know if its S88 or 88 as photo of brochure in your original post had side panels on hood. Either way lots of engine parts - issues will be unique items like heavy industrial front axle, steering, transmission, other items unique to reversed configuration.

Out of curiosity - does it have shuttle shifter or is transmission just reversed? I'm in process of buying S88 Ind with front loader which I wish had shuttle shift and power steering but it has neither.

Best, Ed

Yeah, I share your concern. It got relisted because the eBay winner wanted it stored for too long. Then it got re-listed. Same deal again - apparently!

Sounds like it could be a scam.
So I will not be parting with money until it is loaded!

I will answer those Qs if I get it OK.
Thanks for your reply. Chris

Engine parts should not be a problem. SN 449 is the casting date. Wngine serial number is on the otherside on the back engine pad. If the hydraulic pump is bad cross it over. Hoses, etc should be easy to make up. It is heavy. First one I have seen with the cab. Got to run.
