Where can I buy a ring compressor for a 53 series detroit? A regular automotive style ring compressor won"t do the job.

If you have an old liner you can have a machine shop taper the inside to load the pistons. We have had several made this way and they work well.

Contact Kent-Moore (K-M) at 1-800-345-2230 and take a look at their ring compressor J42255. They may know of a distributor in your area. Hal

Got ahold of Kent-Moore, and they will only sell to a Detroit Dealer.

If you are close to a Detroit dealer I would take the piston and liner assm to them and let them load the pistons in the liners for you. I have borrowed one from a local heavy truck dealer. The pistons have to be installed from the bottom of the sleeve.

This is for a pulling tractor so I hate to keep borrowing one or relying on someone else to do for me.

If you haven"t already tried:
A: will dealer sell you one??
B: if improved recently, does dealer have previous type they"d sell?? (it must"ve worked OK);
C: start haunting the diesel sites (postings and for sale ads)...Good luck.
