Ladies and Gents,
I have an opportunity to purchase a Oliver 770 that has what I would as an uniformed buyer consider a wide front. the owner states that the engine was rebuilt 51 hours ago. It has square fenders, almost new tires-the tire size is still fresh and crisp on the tread of the lug, a bucket loader-don't know the make, a brush hog-possibly a 5 foot model, post hole auger unknown brand but in good shape, 3 point scraper blade, sickle bar-needs work.
I have very little knowledge of these fine and beautiful tractors and don't know what a fair price is. His asking price is 15K-a bit high by local standards per a couple of implement dealers in the northern Colorado area where I live. The tractor has been stored inside and the paint shows what I would consider normal to minor wear for a machine of it's age. When we cranked it over, it fired right up and ran smoothly. The loader moved smoothly when actuated.
I will post some photos that my son took to give a better idea of over-all condition. I am buying about 7 acres from this gent and he thinks that it would work more than well to mow and maintain the property. I have to think that it would run for years and is more than I really need, but I also believe that I could get by with a smaller machine. I am a metal smith and maintain my machines well, but am not a farmer.
I like the machine but not the price, which I have been told should be closer to 6-7K.
Please give me your counsel as this an area I prefer to trust more learned folks.
Thanks for your time and help. Please feel free to respond directly to me if you like, but I will be reading the posts as well since there is soooo much great info here.

Trusting HIM,
Steve Rollert

15K sounds a little high to me too, but it"s hard to give you an exact price without pics. The square fenders mean it"s a late model, serial number would give exact year. The three point option should add some to the value. The other equipment you mention could be worth ~~$3K by themselves, if in good shape.

More information usually leads to better advice.

Well I would sell you one for 15K as I can get one here for 2500. this is a later model with a loader on it is worth no more than 5K.
