1650 Clutch Problem

I am working on my first Oliver it is a 1650D. When I bought it the clutch was bad. Purchased a pressure plate and 4 pad clutch from Hy capacity. The parts I took out matched what was going in and all looked ok. Flywheel is smooth no step so I used the .125 spacers, when I started to tighten the bolts holding the pressure plate to the flywheel the tabs on the pressure plate started sinking in and went all the way down to the clutch disc. The tabs being the three pieces the throwout bearing touches. This tells me the .125 spacers are not enough gap could it need .25 spacers or do you think its the wrong parts. The part numbers all seem to be right. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Here is a scan of the instruction sheet for the conversion from fiber disc clutch to button type.  See following post for second page.

I have read this twice and I have been trying to remember the thickness of the spacers when Oliver went to the button clutch. MY next step would be to see what thickness key stock I need what thickness spacer I need, take the flywheel off and bolt just the pressure plate up with the key stock. Measure the height of the release levers (your tabs) and see what the dimension is and make a decision. Questions? J.

If my eyes are serving me right, the spacers are to be .126".

What was the reasoning for going to the button clutch? Life? Is it worth converting to the button clutch if you have the tractor apart?

You have the right spacers, you have installed something wrong. Take it apart try flipping the disc over.

My first thought would be that the disc is in backwards or its not centered right. The fingers could be reajusted to fit,but normally they are not far off.
