Generic Solenoid Replacement for 550

Can I replace the solenoid on my 550 with a generic or standard solenoid? My system is 12 volt. I destroyed what I believe was an already dead solenoid trying to fix it/see how it worked. Either way, it is dead.

I just replaced mine a month ago and I'm glad I took the old one into my generator/alternator repair place. I learned that there are 3-posters and 4-posters and they each can be wired for various electrical systems. By looking at the old one he was able to pull the right one of the shelf ($25 to $40)

Funny, I just did the same thing a few weeks ago. Brought my old one in to the local hydraulic/elctrical repair shop and they had one on the shelf,, so I am thinking they are fairly common. Good Luck
