A friend of mine let me drive his 1948 60 Standard today. I noticed that the gear ratio seemed a lot higher than my 88 RC.

Did the standard have a higher rear axle gear ratio than the RC?

My brother had a 77 standard. It was geared higher than the row crop 77's. 1st gear in the standard felt like 3rd gear in row crop.

Dan, not sure that a 60 is particularly comparable with an 88. Gearbox ratios are probably different for a start, axle ratios for another and wheel sizes for yet another. Probably you need to know which gear set is fitted if there were choices.
