Hi, Helping my brother-in-law with a 36? Cockshutt 70 that has a cracked block. He found a different block that appears good so far. The pistons and sleeves were very rusty, but I was able to machine them away and get the sleeves loose and out.

He's planning to re-use most of the parts from the running tractor, just replacing the block, or whatever else is necessary. If we need parts, what is available? Most online searches I've done don't seem to list the 70. This is a six cylinder, 3 1/8 bore, 3 1/2 OD sleeve (201cid?) engine. I think he called it a five gear Hart-Parr engine. I'm a newbie to Oliver. Thanks for any help.

Hi,

Not sure what parts we might need, the running engine has been filled with water for parades and such, then drained for storage, for a long time. I'm expecting the backside of the sleeves to be rusty...seems to run good, so maybe it is as simple as gaskets. What engine is this? Contintental? Waukesha? The only part of the engine I've even seen is the replacement block/pistons/rods that I struggled to get the sleeves and pistons out of. It had water in 4 of the cylinders and two of the 4 were split from freezing.

thanks for the help,
mark
