My father-in-law recently acquired a Deere 700 twin-rake. It will be pulled mostly with a 1755. The dealer told us that a speed-control would be needed to protect the rake motors, but I am more concerned with the hydraulic pump on the tractor. Comments . . . advice . . . anyone?

First off, I would be surprised if the motors on the rake did not have some type of restrictor needle valve. I'd get the owners manual for it if you don't know what to look for.

For the 1755, first make sure your hydraulic temp sender and light are hooked up....you'll want to know if you overwork your system. Your biggest concern is to prevent aeration of the oil. DO NOT plumb the return line back through the remotes. Instead, plumb the return line directly back to the reservoir. What I have done is installed a quick coupler to the hydraulic drain plug port that is up and to the left of the three point top link bracket. Then you should be good to go!

See if you can out more about those motors to see if they were used before on an open or closed center system. Also see if you can get a difuser package and return the oil through it to help prevent aeration. Heat and aearation are going to be your biggest concerns. J.

Go back to Deere and see if you can figer out what kind of PTO pump is avalabel to go with it then if it goes bad you could get another with out being down a tractor if one off of one of those old IH planters would work you could get one of them they should be easy to find
