Are the tubs from a 66 and a 77 interchangeable?

Anything is interchangable given enough time and money, but those will not be a bolt-up project. Transmission to tub joint is different widths on the 77 and 66. And yes, the mounts inside are different. But the 66 or 77 did not use a chain coupler. It has a splined coupler to marry the clutch output and the trans input.

I have two 88 tubs which should be the same as a 77. I live in Indiana. Let me know if interested. I will sell cheap. Chris

Actually I was looking for a tub that would fit a 66. I have a 77 tub and I too will sell it cheap, very very cheap.

Well the 66 is a 4 cylinder, the 77 a 6 cylinder so the motor mounts are indifferent locations to start with.

Are the motor mounts a part of the tub?

Yep. The motor mounts to the tub, which mounts to the rear end, and power is transfered through a chain coupler.
