I just finished fixing up a 1755 diesel, I think it's ready for some field work. I have a couple of three bottom plows but it seems to me the 1755 should be able to handle 4 16's or maybe even 4 18's. The ground I'm plowing is average, not too hard, not too soft. I'd prefer not to have the 1755 running at wide open 2600rpm. Any recommedations for a good fit plow for the 1755. Thanks

The most important part with that, is where you are located. If you were in one of our feilds with a 1755, you would have to pull a 3-16. we pull 4-16's with our 1855 in 3rd direct/under, and one field has to be in 2nd gear. If you went to just about anywhere else in the state where it's more sand, I could easily pull 5 bottoms with the 18, and probably 6-16's.

From what most people say, a 1755 in good shape, in Iowa soil, should be able to pull a 5 bottom.

Run that girl fast! An engineer from White told me to run our 1750 with the throttle to the stop when working, otherwise you chance putting a rod out the side of the block just like our neighbor. He also said if you pull it under 2200 RPM you should shift one gear as you will have the same ground speed and the RPM will stay up. My father didn't believe that and would plow with 4-16's at 2000RPM, the engine made a lot of noise and burned a LOT of fuel when lugged down that far. Wind it UP!! Ed.

I use a oliver 548 4-14 behind my 1755, it does well. Mainly adverage plowing for western pa, grunts a bit when I hit alot of clay. Usually running in 3rd over, haven't had to go below 3rd under yet.....

I use a 4x18 hydra-reset Oliver Plow with my 1755. I pull in hilly country, but am able to go in 3rd direct drive most of the time plowing Douglas silt loam soil.
It was a 5x18 when my dad plowed on flat ground with his Oliver 1750.
You should be able to pull a 4 bottom no problem.
