Did the later 880 ever have a checkerboard grill similar to the late 770s?

Ok so if there is a transmission filter on the left side similar to a 1600 it is an 880 & not a 770. The gentleman selling me this tractor is very adamant that it is an 880. What through me was the fiberglass grill & the injector pump. I know that a 1600 has the R.M. pump but this tractor has the Bosch pump. But after looking in the parts book the 880 could have either hence my confusion. Any suggestion as to a fair price (has good tires).

Hi, Yes the later ones had the fiberglass checkered grilles with the round type fenders. They did not have the flat top fenders because the 1600's were introduced. The 880 I have has the checkered fiberglass grille and a transmission filter. I was told by a very reliable Oliver dealer that having a transmission filter and transmission pump, it was the latest model they made. Jeff

We have a late 880 that has a fiberglass checkerboar grill and round fenders. Has been on there since we bought it in the early 70s. I don"t know if the dealer put it on there or what but I think i looks darn sharp. If Oliver didn"t put it on there, they sould have because it just looks so good! Just my thoughts.

Sticking my neck out here, but I don't think they did. The 1600s replaced the 880 then the 770s and 550s came with the checkerboard to match.
