I drove down to Cedarburg/Jackson today (started from Lakeland College between Plymouth and Sheboygan where my fiance goes)and met Paul Puestow and got a set of fuel tank fenders for my 1855. I traded him several sets of my 3 pt balls for them because he was having the same troubles as quite a few other guys have, including myself, with the balls turning to mush after a season or 2 he also remembered me mentioning on here that I was looking for a bigger field cultivator to put behind the 18 and he said he had a friend with one to sell.

Made the treck over there and looked at it, it was a 18' Oliver 245 with a whole mix of different size sweeps, some good more worn, and not much paint left on it. I think I got it for a little more than scrap price, so I think I did alright. I stopped at Fleet Farm in Plymouth on the way home and picked up 10 new sweeps for it, then after spending another couple hours with my fiance back at Lakeland I drove home. I put on just over 200 miles for the whole thing, got 2 things I was looking for and put another face on another YT'er.

Lets see, so far thanks to YT I've gotten front weights and a spare tire for the 18 from MikeO, got the tanks and cultivator from Paul, some spring teeth from Nebraska Cowman, hooked up with a great source of sickle parts for our Hesston by Allen in Ne if I remember right, and I don't know how many other connections I've made over the years.... This really is a great site for people to chat and say "Hey, I've got whatcha need!!"

Always liked the look of those fuel tank fenders. I know I don't have to say this, but post some pics of the 18 when you get them mounted. Also post a picture of the field cultivator, I think mine is a 243, maybe about 12' or so.

Hey Don, read your post and couldn't agree more. We started field work today with the "beast" and the Perkins 1855. Felt good to be out there for a change. We put 14 acres of small grains in today and hope to get the field corn in later this week. Then the push starts for the big acres, soybeans and sweet corn. I know I am a little behind (7-10 days) as compared to other farmers in the area, but the cool weather doesn't have me in a big rush. Glad to hear you got another piece of Oliver machinery. Did you ever follow up on the two tractors you posted about a year ago? Not that I am looking with the new yellow one in the yard, but if it's still available, maybe later this year. You can email me directly. Thanks

We got our oats in on Monday which should be alright. We're not gonna worry too much about the corn until next weekend. Then we're gonna hopefully go like a bat outta he1l.

Dad just started a new job on Thursday, he's driving a truck for a fertilizer place we never knew existed that's only 10 miles away. I guess he got to drive the sprayer today. Looks like I'll be doing most of the work for the next 2 months while he's working for this place. Shouldn't be too bad, I'm finally done with school in another 2 weeks.

May have seen you at Fleet Farm. Would you know what time you where there? Cause somebody was at the tillage section of the store when I was picking up sweeps for my cultivator too.

I think it was around 5 or so. I was wearing a bright orange hooded sweatshirt.

Yes then I did see you. Also did you ever go to that big Fleet Farm in Appleton? Been there a couple of times and that is the biggest store I had step foot into.

That's the one closest to home so I go there quite often. I was just in the area so I stopped at that one in Plymouth for a couple parts. You're right, it is a pretty big store.
