I recently stripped down a 273 buda gas engine and found a 2 1/2 piece missing out of the #4 cylinder halfway down, due to previous owner neglect,he must not have had a raincap on it or something,my question is would it be possible or worthwhile to have the cylinder bored and sleeved,it already has been bored to 40 and should have new pistons installed.

Bruce,

As Dave replied, some parts are real difficult to locate.Securing the right pistons is usually the largest problem. I can provide some references on these.

You should determine the piston sizes available before deciding to bore and sleeve the broken cylinder or all six cylinders.

I have many parts on stock for these engines.

I just had a Buda Diesel Bored and sleeved, The machinist said $100 per hole- he did six. Before you proceed, check the availability of all the parts
you will need. Some parts are impossible to find for the diesel. I know others will dispute this but my engine has been in the shop almost three
years as we look for parts. Maybe it will be home next week.
