I made the treck to the other side of the county today and managed to get my 77 running fairly well. After cheking with my test light, I did discover spark thru the points. I swapped out the bad sediment bowl for a new assy. Hit it with a shot of either and it fired up...for a few seconds. Second try, the same thing. I removed the bottom plug in the carb and no fuel. I checked the fuel line and found it plugged. After cleaning it, it fired up and sounded pretty good. I backed it up put of the hole it was in and drove it to the front yard. Now, I have to get it home. The 20 plus miles should prove interesting.

I'm inclined to believe the fuel line was almost plugged solid when he was running it. Hence it was running very lean when they gassed it. I hope that did the trick. A complete tune-up in in order when I get it home.

Thanks guys. I already cleaned the tank out and the sediment bowl is clear, no crud.

I got that covered as the wife will be following me with a kenitic tow rope. I got lazy in my old age. I hate walking.

I would set a clean container under the tank and let some of that gas run to see if any more crud comes out. I drove a Super C about 15 miles and my wife stayed with me for awhile and I told her to head on home. She was blessing that stick shift on the truck. Hal

Driveing one 20 miles isn't to bad, but I would make sure you have some one in a car behind you just in case it dies on you. BTDT more then once and when it just up and stops on you its nice not haveing to walk for help. You also might take the sediment bowl back out and pour some gas through the tank so help clean out any junk before you start your drive home with it

You might want to make sure there is no sediment in the tank, hence don't run the fuel level too low until you have a chance to play with it at home.
