Hello, everyone! I was driving up to Mount Olive, Illinois on Sunday morning and saw something that made me smile. As I approached an overpass on I-55 south of Hamel, IL, I saw a silver tractor pulling a 12-row folding planter behind it, heading across the overpass. I drove under as he was driving over. It looked like a 2-135 or 2-155 with a White planter. In this modern era, when everything seems to be either "red and black" or "green and yellow", it is refreshing to see someone still putting in their crops with some good old, silver and gray, Charles City iron! Makes me long for the days when I worked our farm with a White 2-180, two 1950-T's, and a 1655 diesel. I couldn't get my camera out of the bag fast enough, or I'd have taken a photo. I hope your spring tillage and planting adventures are going well! Be safe out there...and enjoy the Blessing of once again tilling the soil!
Merlin

I plant with a 1979 White 2-135 that has 2700 second owner hours on it. Pull a White 12 row 5100 behind it. I have another White 2-135 with a loader on it to chore, White 6145 MFD with loader to chore with, an Oliver 1955 Diesel that pulls the feed wagon around, and low and behold I have a John Deere 4455 MFD that is the field tractor for the field cultivator. That green one is a little out of place at the farm but bought it way under the money so I couldnt resist it.

We run a 4-270 for tillage and love it. Just traded out 2-135 for a silver 6125. Fits right in with our 120 and 2-62. Love those white's!

I'm using a 4-210 on the field cultivator and a 4-150 pulling a 16 row 20 inch White planter. The clutch went out of the 210 this spring and the 4-150 got to finish up the anhydous and promptly got stuck. Five log chains and the 2150 got it out . I guess that would have made a good picture. We're proud of our Charles City machines.

I travel the countryside in a delivery truck mainly running from Cedar Falls to Dubuque Iowa on US 20. Let me tell you, my unofficial tally shows a hot spoy for WFE stuff around Manchester and also Fairbank, one guy has old whie 4x4's hooked to hog poop tanks! He must have 10 of them I have seen 6 in the field at once in the fall, then sometimes maybe only 3, I guess he runs all of the ones that arent broke or leaking too much. WFE definitely flexes serious muscle in this area of Iowa.

Up until last year we put all of our crops in with a 2-135 and an 8 row wide 5100 White planter. The 2-135 had a catostrophic engine failure so it sits in the corner of the shed and the MX200 now pulls the planter. Lots of people in this area still using 5100 and 6100 series White planters.

Looking to sell that 2-135 by chance? I know a guy that looks for those tractors and fixes them up.

We just bought a White 226 field cultivator to match up with our 145 White. We plant with a 1650 with a Deere 7000 planter. I do like that planter- alot better then that old Cyclo 400 IH we used to have. We're one of the last to run Oliver/White in our area, but our neighbor does it yet too.
