I have an Oliver 1800. I was plowing and raised the lift up. The lift arms stuck in the up position. The lever was also stuck. I gently rocked it back and forth. The lever released, but the arms are still stuck. Any ideas on my problem? Any help would be appreciated.

While I am getting information, I could also use some help with the remotes. I have for remote lines, but they all to seem to be under constant pressure. Does this seem right?

Stand so you can see what happens when you move the hand control. It is attached to a small turnbuckle for adjustment. Does the turnbuckle move? There are also small pins that attach the arms to the linkage. See if they are all intack. Also see if the quadrant that holds the handles (cylinders & 3 point) is tight. Sometimes those two screws work loose. J.

All of those items are intact and seem to be working. I have a sinking feeling about the seriousness of my problem.

The worse it could be is something in the servo valve...

You can access the servo valve in about 30 - 45 minutes taking your time. Take out the 4 bolts holding down the seat, then a dozen or so in the top cover and your in. Once the hydra-lectric switch pack is off the top of the rockshaft housing you can see the servo valve and the linkage that works it. Servo valve is held in with 4 bolts, take those loose and 'lil twist to pop the link arm out of the slider and out is comes. (There maybe a circlip on the pin that goes through the slider that needs to come off)

You will need to drain the hydraulic fluid down to do this if it becomes necessary.

Gasket for the top cover is available at your agco dealer. I think it's around $15 unless you would decide to use silicone.

I've had mine apart several times in trying to solve why mine didn't lift.. and turned out I just needed an education (read the service manual and ask questions)

You have the manual?

Rexalot: Iwas a little bit impressed with your reply. I would drain the oil down firast. Then I would loosen each of the four screws about a half turn and let the weight of the plow bleed the oil out before removing the servo valve. I would also loosen the top nut on the servo valve with my inch wrench before I removed it. This is handier than putting it in a vise especially if no decent vice is available. If his linkage is good the piston is not pushing the ball off the set which then makes the 3 point lower. Check the length of the pin. I have found a few that were peened over on the end and thus they did not push the lowering ball off the seat. J.

Missed the part about still having a plow attached... I would do as you said and loosen things just enough to bleed off any pressure. Safety first. And yes to take the servo all the way out you need to drain it.

Post up the fix. I do have a spare servo valve that I would part with but I really don't know if it's a good one or not.

I lifted the plow off with a chain hoist, but have not had time to take the seat and cover off. I will post what I find when I get it apart. Thanks for the help.
