I have been crawling all over and under my 1755D this week getting it ready for the upcomming plow days . One thing I am painfully aware of is there is only one or two places on this tractor that DON'T leak some sort of fluid . I can watch fluid drip off the bottom of the final drive . After tightening snuggly all the hydraulic fittings they still seep . The major leak is up under the dash on the steering motor , some leaks out of the rear of the engine after the rebuild , the fuel pump is always dirty but never wet , the " T " fittings on the injector lines are new two years ago and they leaked within the first six months so the whole left side of the engine is coated with dust sticking to the seepage , I noticed this afternoon that the right draft sensor arm coming out of the bottom of the final drive leaks pretty good and the end of the left drive axle is leaking now too . This is just overwhelming . There's not enough time or money to fix all those leaks . Just tightening nuts and bolts and fittings doesn't seem to help and some will require a major teardown to get to . I like this old tractor a lot and won't part with it but is this the norm with these 1755's ? I've seen other 1755's that also had some bad leaks . OH Well I guess I'll just live with it ! Take care ! ...Randy

As I was told about the CAT's I run, "If it ain't leakin, it ain't runnin"! I personally don't care for leaks, either, but haven't alot of time to dig into them. Good luck!!

Our 18 and 17 are both the same way. The 17 has been sitting for about 4-5 years now, and the hydraulic fluid leaked out from around by the pump within the first 2. Atleast it was off the dipstick by then... The 18 is leaking from the T's too. I replaced them all when I had the exhaust manifold off 2 years ago. It helped for about a month or so then it started leaking again. Not nearly as bad as before, but one or 2 still leak. I replaced all the steering hoses in it last summer after one blew, and the rockshaft for the 3 pt has oil seeping out around it. That didn't start till I hooked it up to a plow for the 1st time, so I'm guessing the arms hadn't been worked in a while. That seems to have slowed down now too, but it still has a fair amount of leaks.

The worst is when it sits ofr a while and the block is saturated with fuel, then it starts to slowly burn off under the weather breaker so all of the smoke is blowing on me before it leaves the tractor... Once it's burnt off it isn't so bad but it takes atleast an hour, if not more.

Hi Don , I don't have the smoke in the face problem yet but you never know ! I've put over a gallon of hydro fluid in it in 4 hours of operation this weekend . Two days of plowing . Had a blast ! So you haven't heard of any sure fire fixes for those T's ? I haven't either . Take care ! ...Randy

i've got 74 model 1755. i'm like you, i wont part with it, but it does have seemingly more than its share of oil leaks. lines around the hydraulic pump, behind the dash (replaced those lines, kinda pricey) also leaking on o/u drive where the shift linkage is. mine also leaks around fuel return lines. I replaced the rubber T's and it helped for a long time, but if you ever remove one or even just bump it, it will start leaking fuel. once they begin it's hard to get them stopped. I did put some small hose clamps on some of them. it seemed to help. i hate the mess but i've just decided to live with it. as far as the rear main seal, you might want to address it before it gets the clutch oily. you said it has had a recent rebuild and probably a new rear seal. it's just my opinion but i think the rubber in the seals made today is of a lower quality than say, 20 years ago, maybe it's just the imported stuff i don't know. just my thoughts.

Hi , So They all seem to leak in the same spots . Mine doesn't leak from the O/U ...YET . I'm not sure it leaks from the rear main . The mechanic that rebuilt it thinks it may be coming from the cam plug . I don't know myself . The engine oil never goes down between oil changes ( All three of them! ) I have about 150 hours on the rebuild . The gasket set I got from Howards supply was an old gasket set and he couldn't use a few of the gaskets because they were to dried out . It had new T's just before the rebuild but I guess you all say they don't last very long so maybe I should replace them again and put those little hose clamps on like you did . That's way down on the " to do " list though ;) Take care ...Randy
