Fluid clean to start but when it won't pick up there is about 1.5 inches if white foam in reservoir but fluid is still cool. Any ideas?

SN 16048-518 (1955) Replaced transmission cover w/late model one with larger reservoir, took everything apart (pump, valves, cylinder, etc.) and replaced all seals and o-rings.

Late model as in filter on the side or as in filter in front? Did you do the press test when you had the unit apart?

First of all do you have a serial number? What asll do you mean by rebuild it? Did you do the press test? Your getting air and that will caviatate the pump and will kill the pump. Also aearation will kill the pump so out of the 4 major killers you are dealing with two of them. Your turn. J.
