I have a 520 oliver baler that is missing the original clutch pack on the flywheel. In its place someone has welded on a stub shaft and installed a TSC store brand clutch and pto shaft.

I did notice that the stub shaft that was welded to the plate that bolts to the fly wheel was not put on straight, and after extending the pto shaft I found it is bent. I haven't ran the baler but I'm going to guess that even if I replaced the drive shaft the clutch on the slightly off center stub shaft will cause a vibration.

I have removed the TSC clutch and cut that welded on shaft off thinking I would correct the alignment. I noticed then that the bolt pattern for the original clutch matches a NH baler, which I have an old S67 that has a good clutch and PTO shaft. Now I might be commiting a sin using "brand x" on my baler but if it works it'll be "free".

My original thought is to drill three mount holes and bolt the whole clutch assembly to the plate, using solid spacers to give clearance for the bolt heads the hold the plate to the flywheel. The other thought is to get longer bolts and use the original clutch mounting holes. The only problem with option 2 is what value would I torque the bolts to for proper spring compression on the clutch? I don't have the manual for a S67, but I do for my NH68 and the 520. I haven't looked but I figure there's information in them on setting the drive clutch. If so that may be my answer. I've not had the clutch apart before so I'm not sure what happens when I remove the bolts that hold it all together and the backing plate so I may need to stay with option 1. Think this will work? Drive clutch assembly and PTO shafts are no longer serviced by AGCO...

Alot of those 20 series parts cross reference to a Hesston number just prior to the beeline Hesston line. A neighbor has a wire 620 and totally redone with Hesston parts from old Hesston dealer. Make sure your parts man did all he could in searching for the parts.

Otherwise, we won't throw rocks at you for using brand X parts. Anything that'll work.
