I have a 1949 77 and i was wondering if it would be alright to put 15.5x38's on it instead of the original 13.6x38's. Would this cause any problems?

I believe 13.6 tires were optional on the 77. Anyhow, the 15.5's should fit. Might have to slide the hubs to accomodate the fenders. Are you changing tires and wheels? I am looking for a set of cast Oliver rims with tires 13.6 or wider for my 88. I am working on a set of 16.9-34's but they may have to go on the 1550.

Just mt 2 cents worth, but I think those 13.6s are one size larger than the 77 had originally aren't they? They replaced the old 12x38s and that was what was standard on the 88s. 77s had 11s which are 12.4 now and 66s had 10s,11.2 now. Not that that has a lot to do with anything, but since it's oversized anyway, what the heck, might as well go all the way. :)

I would look at the size of your rims. If you have 12" rims, the 15.5's may be too wide for that rim. They will look and fit much better on 14" rims. If you are buying tires already on rims, then the only concerns would be matching the hub bolt pattern, and the clearance space between the tire and fender. Too little space between tire and fender will cause cut and broken fingers!

Well my 1950 Oliver 77 has 13.6X38 on it and my 1953 77 has 15.5X38s on it and if I park them side by side I can't tell much if any differance in the tow of them. So ya I would say its ok to put them on or if not then I have a problem LOL
