Hi there, I saw your post on the most popular Oliver tractors. I was wondering where you got the production numbers from? Specifically from the Fleetline series and newer (00, 50, 55 etc). I've been looking around and haven't had much luck. Thanks.

P.S. I'm not surprised to see the 1650 in the top 10. Don't know about elsewhere, but there were quite a few of those sold in NE Ohio.

First, let me say that production numbers exist for 3 digit series tractors and newer, so that's a no brainer. The thing is that I got these numbers from two sources, and neither one are real wild about making the exact numbers public. So I have to be general in order to respect their wishes. As my own research reveals these numbers I may be more inclined to share that in the future. The Oliver serial numbers prior to 1953 are pretty straight foward and anyone can figure those out. To finish out the fleetline era (53-54) you do some averaging of prior years with the idea that horsepower was trending higher. That will get you close and put the 88 solidly in third place. The grey area comes in the Super era as I don't have any production totals on those and I guess it looks like I'm going to have to count the build cards someday! But here again you can make some assumptions based on the total number of serial numbers, knowing that not all the numbers were used. You just can't pin it down. Perhaps someone out there has the actual production totals for the Super series and will share that sometime. I will say that as time goes on that more is known about how many of any given model were made.

Thanks for the quick response. I guess I can't blame them for that. Everyone has their reasons. I've got the Oliver tractor data book by Brian Rukes, so I've got quite a bit for the older ones. I stumbled across the newer ones just this evening (naturally, not long after I posted here!)As for the Supers,I'll leave the card counting to you!
