I'm considering trading in a 1650 for a 1555. The one thing this hangs on is fuel consupmtion. How much will a 1555 use per hour?

Thanks,
ORB

I'm going to give you what I've got here. Keep in mind that there was no difference between the 1550 and 1555 except cosmetic and the hydra power/over under. The book that I have doesn't list the hp/gal/hr on the 1555,I'm assuming for that reason, but it lists the 1650 at 10.45 hp gal/hr and the 1550 at 10.10 hp gal/hr.

They never put an over/under in a 1555, just a hydrapower. Later 50 series, then 55s' but not the 15's
.

Could not find Neb. test on 1555 Gas
1650 gas is test #0874. Drawbar Hp/Hrs per gal. was 10.09 at max. drawbar HP of 58.87 and 9.32 at
75% load.
1550 gas is test #0944. Drawbar Hp/Hrs per gal. was 9.25 at max. drawbar HP of 45.37 and 8.54 at varying load.
1650 is more efficient, shift up and throttle back and it will do better than a 1550 which is similar to the 1555.

All I want to know is how much fuel a 1555 will use. I do not want oppinions on which is better.

I use my 1974 for loader work, mainly moving snow, and it rarely uses over 3 gallons an hour at 1500-1800 rpm, usually 3 or 4th gear. I agree with the Neb test, like 5 gallons an hour Plowing would make sense to me.

A 1550 gas will use 4.9 gal/hr , 1650 gas 5.8 gal/hr. .Thats from the Nebraska test, 100% drawbar load.

The 1650 Oliver may be the most popular Oliver model made. The 1555 has a poor power-to-weight ratio, way too heavy for the amount of snort it has! (Same problem as the Farmall 706). I recommend you keep the 1650. Don

I believe it's like the 6th most popular Oliver built. I think my 1550's have a lot of guts right at 60 hp.
