Can someone explain why some later Cockshutts(actually Olivers) are green and others are red.Could it be because I live near the Canadian border and that they were painted different colors depending on what country they were sold in? I seem to see a lot of red ones in Canada(Just saw a 1755 in an ad the other day and it was red) and I've seen a lot of green ones here in New York.

I think the question is why are some Cockshutt's Green! & some Red.

I've seen Green Olivers of course. but also Green Minneapolis Molines! & even Green Cockshutts. Red MM's Yellow MM's of course, even the short lived Red White Blue models, on MM's & Olivers.

I grew up in Minnesota, so we had some canadian tractors near. in my MM book research, these are some real puzzles, as every body has a theory! some say they don't exist, but I've seen them, & so have others. ----- ----- MAJ

I have a oliver sales book of helpfull hints that disproves a few of my idea of what was made and what wasnt.(example 710 baler)So if you say you have seen a green cockshutt i spose it could be, I never have and if that is what they are impling it would be interesting to know how many real green ones are out there. What model green cockshutt did you see?As far as red white and blue Ive seen pics and toys down here that is it.

I don't recall for sure, as it was about 15 years ago, but I believe it was either a 1755, 1855 or 1955. I've seen G1355 Oliver's same as a G1355, or were they G1350, I can't recall right of the top of my head. Oh if I would have only had a camera 10 years ago. It is definatly an intersting part of White history

Now, that's interesting, because only a few days ago, I was talking to a guy that called me from Missouri, and he said that there were Cockshutt 1355's out in Canada's west, and not the Fiat based utility tractor, either, but the full sized Minneapolis Moline one. Apparently, there were also Cockshutt 2455's, as a friend of mine has an original two page spread colour ad for them. It seems that available models were subject only to whims. I have heard of a few factory 354 Perkins powered 1855's now, too.

now is this cockshutt the BIG MM G1355 or a Jet Star 3 MM? there were some of those labeled Cockshutt 1355.

I've been told of Cockshutt AfT's but havn't seen any. anybody who sees any, please take a good photo, that I can possibly use in my upcoming MM book. or at least use for research to prove what variations are out there.

sincerly,

The MM Jet Star 3 was the base for the Cockshutt 1350; the MM G1355 based Cockshutt was the 1355. I will try to have my friend laser print me a copy of that Cockshutt 2455 tractor ad, and post it here.

You bet, MAJ! I'll try to get a laser print of the 1350 ad for you tomorrow when I'm in town. The 2455 ad may take a bit of time, though, as my friend is a government globetrotter, and I've gotta catch him at home, and with some time on his hands.

The MM G1355 was sold in Canada as a White 2270. It was painted Red.

Yes, but we are talking about tractors actually labelled 'Cockshutt 1355', not the regular 2270 White style.

Well you are right the ones in canada were red and called Cockshutt(or white)while in U.S were green and called oliver.Ill also guess and say that farmers are a picky bunch and in Canada they might of thought the tractor was junk unless it was red.
