Is there any chance of sliding a 6.9L V-8 diesel out of my worn out 3/4 ton into a 1650 or 1850 frame for a repower? I have heard about guys putting Chevy 350's into 770's and the tubs are similar.
I would love find a reson to keep the old cornbinder mill as it has really been one of the most durable engines I have ever owned.

There was some talk about this awhile back about this. Someone was going to try a Powerstroke and I never saw anything more on the subject. Was probably back in August or September. I think there may have been flywheel issues and bell housing adapter questions?

I don't know if the frame is wide enough to acomodate the starter. You can buy bellhousings for race cars that use a reverse starter that comes in from the back. Same thing with the manifolds,You might have to use upturned headers.I have a plate here that goes on the back of the bellhousing that somebody made to put a Chevy 6 in a 70. It has a carrier bearing and a stub shaft to hook the drive shaft coupler up. Of course that was a 70 so you didn't have to accomodate the live PTO shaft.

Thanks for the input. In terms of the bell housing I was thinking that seeing IHC built tractors as well as engines there might be some compatibility between tractor bellhousing and the 6.9L. I also had a thought that with the shorter V-8 block that you could set the engine higher in the frame and have room for a Funk drop box to mate up with the existing drive shaft.
