When I was a young lad in the early 50's and late 40's a neighbor of ours had a Oliver pull type combine in Minnie Mo color with Oliver identification. All other Olivers in our neighborhood were green and I just thought this one to be an older unit. Does anyone have any info about these machines ? Did Oliver buy them from Minnie Mo and label as Oliver ?

That was indeed an earlier Oliver combine-built by Oliver, at their Battle Creek Michigan plant. Known as a "Golden Grainmaster". Don't remember the model no.(maybe No.5?) They are somewhat similar to the green Model 15 Grainmaster, which replaced them. The earlier Oliver manure spreaders were yellow also.

Hey Jim, I didn't know you were on here, good to here from ya! I have two different pieces of literature on the Golden Grain Master and neither one refer to a model number, however both show a circular winged #2 decal on the cut away drawing. In the actual photos this does not appear though. I also have a parts manual and an operators manual for the green version of this combine and it is most definately referred to as a model 2. The Golden Grain Master literature is not dated but someone has written 5-6-40 on the cover of one, and I would say that to be about right since all of the yellow implements are late 30's early 40's vintage. The literature says this has a five foot cut as opposed to a six foot cut on the model 15 which I'm sure replaced it. These are extremely rare as you know. I've only seen one myself and Mike would sure love to have it!
