The engine that is used is fairly troble free but you should put in new rod and main bearings every four thousand hrs. That was recommended right from CAT. They are easy to work on. The rest of tractor is an OLIVER what more could you ask for.

We have 3 tractors with 3208's in them. Never really had any problems. The tractors are 4-150, 2-180, and 2255. The 2255 has been set at 225+ hp for the past 7 years pulling our 5,000 gallon tanker around. Weighing 80K lbs we pull just about any hill in 5th direct. Keep in mind we farm nothing but hills. Never had any major engine problems. Only things we did was put in new nozzles (Developed a miss) and bearings. I think the engine is still original other wise with 7500hrs on it.THe pto will not handle that much HP when using the chopper. THe engine clutch we put in a double disc because we ripped the center out of the single disc. THe 2255 has been one of the best tractors we ever had. We use it hard and it keeps coming back for more.

I've got one with a 3150. Cool tractor for sure! Seems like the most common problem/weakness with the 3150/3208 is rod bearings. Mine has 4000hrs, and I'm debating pulling it and checking/replacing mine.

That Cat engine is a good engine if it has been well maintained. Hal
