I was wondering if anyone could tell me how the difference in compression is achieved between the two versions of the engine? Does the KD have a different head, or does it just have concaved pistons. Just wondering; a friend of mine is wanting to convert his KD to high compression and is wondering what all will need to be changed. Thanks, AR

D600A-507 is HC head.
D600A-612 is KD head
D600A-401 is the only piston listed.

Parts book required. Mine not here at present.
Both the 80 and 90 had different heads for gas and Kero, so I would think the 70 may have too.

Rab, thanks for the info. He now has the head off. The head is recessed at least an inch around each set of valves. That must be how it get its decrease in compression because it just has regular flat-top pistons. That is unless the pistons have been changed out and the originals were concaved??? Don't know. I guess he definately needs to come up with a parts book. Thanks for the info RAB.

You must keep better track of me than my kids do. Yes I am, plus half of next week. Cash never goes out of style or season. I am not the 70 guy, we junked them instead of repairing them. I know the carburetors and head are different. Maybe more details tomorrow. I am out of town at my son's place thius weekend as well. Later. J.

I'm still in high school, only for for 3 more months, but I've never been lucky enough to have a sub that is VERY knowledgeable in Oliver tractors like you. That would make class fly by alot quicker. Lol
