I asked you about repowering an Oliver 2655 a couple of weeks ago.. sorry I did not get back to you before this. You asked about the engine specs.... the engine I have is a Cummins PT-270....probably too big. It is a 855 cu.in. and rated at 270HP. Right now it is in a fire truck with only 40 thousand miles. Motor runs well. The engine in the 2655 now is the M-M 504. I am more interested in restoring the ol' thing than working the tar out of it. There is no doubt a 270 HP turbo Cummins would be different tho' ! Cal

How do you get the two housings to match up with a 855 cummins and moline transmission? We have a 1600 thats been sitting in the pole barn for several years waiting to find a good 585 for it but 855's are easy to find and cheap. Also how does the input shaft work out, thanks for any replies.

This Oliver has the M-M 504 engine. Who is a good source for parts for this? I figured I would try Maibach Equipment first. Cal

Cal,

I have seen some tractors with the 855 cummins in them, I think they were Steigers, I have not seen one in an Oliver before, but it could probably be done.

I just got my first 504 engine, but have run a 585 quite a bit. They are both real good engines and if you rebuild them right they will last a long time and run good.

I was at the same place you are with my G-1355, repower or rebuild. I decided to keep my 585 and rebuild and I am glad I did. It was about as expensive either way, but now the tractor is still origional and it is still a really good engine.

Good luck either way and let me know if I can help.

John,
I dont have the CPL# ...the engine is sitting about 300 miles from me at the moment so it may be awhile 'til I get any numbers off it. It very well could be a 270 super, that was what I was told it was initially. Cal

I have seen 2 2655's with 855 cummins in them. Its been 20 years since i saw them. Parts should be easyer to find for the 504 engine than the 585 many more molines of that size where sold.

Cal we sold 2 of the A4T 1400 with the 504 and a turbo. I forget what whent wrong with the one in my neighborhood, but they put an 855 Cummins in it and farmed with it. That was 20 + years ago. Do you have a CPL number for the Cummins. Sure it is not a "Super 270"?
