I just picked up a 310 diesel out of an 1855 with a turbo. I am going to put it in an 88 strictly to pull with. I have to take off the turbo to pull in the classes I want to be in. What all will I have to change taking the turbo off? Also any easy hp tips would help. I want to run stock rpm or up to 20% over. I am not going all out on this motor but wouldn"t mind 100 hp or a little more. Thanks Max

Question, are you allowed to run stock or plus 20 over RPM based on the 88 engine or the 1855 engine? If you have to back this engine up to 1750 RPM high idle no load, you are going to be up against a wall to get 100 HP.

Engine rpm isnt huge in most places here as they never check just cant over do it. And in some of the open classes anything goes. I would think the 2250rpm mark would be fine. I plan on pulling 4000-6500 antique and open. Once or twice a year i might jump into the 7500 non turbo farm class (3000rpm).

Plug the return line at the left front engine cover. Also the suply line on the right side in the oil gallery.Take the turbo and adaptor off the manifold and find a 1750 none turbo outlet for muffler.Make your own air pipe to cleaner.See how it runs on the diesel pump setting that it has now other wise turn it down some.
