310D experts feel free to chime in here. I have some questions on a 1750D w/310 that I have. First, let me say I have read many (perhaps all) of the postings in the archives on the issues that the Oliver/Waukesha 310D has. I am aware that these engines apparently weren't balanced properly when new and I can say I have noticed this on my 1750 and other 310D equipped Olivers as well. When I rebuild this engine if I have the crankshaft and the rest of the rotating mass balanced, can I expect this engine to be as vibration free as my 354 Perkins in my 1850D? Also, if most of these 310D were so badly balanced, how did Oliver/White sell these for so many years without receiving complaints and realizing what they had? I certainly would not buy a new tractor if I felt much engine vibration in the steering wheel like I have noticed with these Oliver tractors equipped w/310D engines. Any thoughts/responses appreciated!

All I can say is some are worse than others while others are fairly smooth.

I have 3 310 powered tractors .One I have had ballanced after I did the updates. In Olivers service bulletin they talk about crankshaft torsional forces when you run the engine over their recomended rpm. Acording to the bulletin this was the most common causes why their engines took a crap. I think allot of the vibration comes from the chain sprokett coupler and alignment on the hydro shift.Like I said above the 1855 I had balanced seems to run a litle smother than the other 1855 and 1650 with a 310.I have the rpms on the tractors turned down some nothing over 2500.
