Oliver 60 engine questions

Is it a wet or dry sleeved engine?? Does it have internal freeze plugs like under the valve cover etc. I went to start up my HG that has the 60 engine in it and found water in the oil and the radiator low so I know I have antifreeze in the oil. Other then that it would start but of course I didn't run it long just enough to get it to where I could pull it out of the way. Sure wish I could find a book on it but oh well haven't so far.
Thanks

I purchased an operators, shop, and parts manuals from the Floyd Co. Museum in Charles City, Ia. 641-228-1099.
Hope this helps.
Roger

Yep I know it should have a hercules engine in it but when I got it, it had a contential engine in it and it didn't run well. So I put an Oliver 60 engine in it and now it has the power to do something. Theres a picture of it in the web page

Yes there is soft plugs under the valve cover. I once bought an engine that had been frozen and supposedly busted and when I started to take it apart I found a freeze plug loose under the valve cover. That was all that was wrong. That engine is srill running now some 30 years later

Thanks, that most likely what is wrong on this one since if I open up the block drain I get antifreeze but the radiator if I fill it will drop its water lever in an hour or 2 so I figure it has to be a leak up high in the engine.

Quite often on ebay there are manuals for the 60 or just get an IT manual.

If I-T printed one I would have one already but according to the back of the I-T manual I have on Olivers there isn't one.

I have an I&T service manual for a 60. It is manual number O-2 dated 1953. it covers 60,70,80,90,99(4 cyl). At the time, this manual replaced O-1. I thought the O-1 manual was still in print by I&T.

It's a wet sleeve engine. No frost plugs under the valve cover.
