I know this might be a sin but I am thinking of purchasing a 2390 Case. I cant get any information on the case forum and everyone here has been verry helpful. Did they have any common problems? Good on fuel?

What is the going rate for one with about 4,000 hrs, good duals, 2 w.d. ,good cab, loader and everything in good working order.

I love my Olies but I need more HP and Olivers (especially any of any size) are hard to come by around here.

Thanks

I know the 1370 and 1570's where known for high $$$ transmission problems. I don't know if the 2390 had the same setup or not. A higher priced 2-135 or 2-155 might be better in the long run.

I did work for a guy that had a 2390. It pulled a 23' field cultivator and rolling harrow just fine. He also pulled a 9 shank disk chisel and a 5-18 plow just fine. He traded it for a 2590. I think it was overpowered for its weight. I liked the 2390 better.

Had a 1983 2090. Did not burn much fuel for the power. Liked the tractor. IH dealer here didn't have mechanics that knew what they were doing at first. I'd go to the 2394 series to get the 6 speed powershift. Alot smoother. Make sure someone knows how to adjust the powershift correctly. On 2390 see if its had the park fork updated. If that breaks its an expensive fix. Had it happen on mine but I think Case fixed it.

Does that have a shift down on the floor? There were a lot of those orange bellied things around here and there was something that I remember about pulling up on the shift and if it pulled out,it was an expensive problem. If I remember right,it was kind of common in them. Have you looked for a White 2-135 or 2-155? I traded a 40 series Deere of on an 82 2-135 series 3 and have never regretted it.

Yes I have looked for Whites also and though they are more common they are extreamly expensive in this area. Even as high or higher than those "other" green tractors with LOTS of hours. I have see some with 8 and 9K hours in rough shape with bald tires bring as much as 10K. Just seems steep to me.

My nephew bought a 2090 and it is a nice tractor with many up to date features such as inboard planetaries and closed center hydraulics. He likes to drive it. You see 2090's advertised anywhere from $7000 to $20,000.
