I am getting ready to put the engine and over-under back in my 1655 and the I&T manual does not cover aligning the sprockets. My tractor does have the bolt to adjust height, but I understand this is only to be used for lifting the motor to add shims, and to somewhat stabilize the over-under. I have heard that the sprockets should be perfectly aligned, and also that the engine side should be 1/16" higher. Could someone give me some tips on the correct procedure? Thanks for all the help,
Josh

An important thing to remember is the up and down alignment is just as important as the side to side. What I've done to get an alignment perfect is used a straight edge across the OD's of both sprockets with the straight edge aligned along the rotational axis of the drive train. When the straight edge doesn't rock, the alignment is good.

Also, did you put new sprockets in? Making sure the sprockets are in good condition is about as important as the alignment.
