My grandfather had 2 Oliver 70's and I spent many awesome hours on those tractors growing up. After retirement, he sold one to a guy in Tennessee and the other to a neighbor. We all grew up and moved away. I went back to the homeplace last month to finalize the sell of some land we still own and decided to pay that neighbor a visit. His wife answered the door and said he had passed a year previous. I gave my condolences and in my conversation asked about the 70. She said it was out in the barn and hadn't run in 4 or 5 years. I asked if I could look at it and she said sure. It was like being in a dream! There she was! I ended up making her an offer and she accepted. I pick it up next month. I can't believe it but the old 70 my grandaddy bought new is mine again. I will post pics as soon as I can. Anyone else had an experience like this?

I would like to find my dad's 37 long frame JD B, but I don't know who we sold it to or what the serial number was. It could be one of about 40 tractors that were sold from the Osage, Iowa dealership. It had nobbie rear tires on F & H factory type spoke wheels, rear fenders, and the after market chain drive lift. I might have to find another just like it.

I like Olivers alot however my Dad had Farmalls And my two prize posesions are his 1944 "H" that he stared farming with and his 1948 "M" with a factory wide frount. I go on the Great Iowa Tractor ride and take one of them with the exception for the year I toke a "88" oliver I had. I must say the Farmalls are very nice on the tractor rides because of the road gears. I am happy for you that you got those Olivers. I like those that have a story with them.

I know where my Granddads Ferguson is that be bought new and I learned to drive a tractor on but so far it is not for sale. My uncles last wife has it and she won't part with it... yet... I am hoping eventually it will come back home. Luckily it is only about 2 miles from here so I cna still ride by and look at it.

Isn't a big tractor and when I was young I always wanted to drive the bigger stuff but now since I am older I really want that little thing back.

Let me say this- your lucky you found it. I have been trying to find my Grandpa's Row Crop 88- the people that owned it after Grandpa said it threw a rod in 72ish, and either it went to the dealership or the junk yard. The dealership doesnt remember it coming back to them.....:( Glad this one worked out for you!
