I'm looking for info on 1655's. Looking at a 69' diesel with a engine knock. What's the lift capasity of the 3 pt? Estimated cost of a bottom end rebuild for the engine figure crankshaft regrind and wrist pin bushings? Would the wrist pins them selvs need to be replaced if I put in bushings? sales person tells me the oil pressure is good, no or little blowby, recent 3 speed work, new hyd pump the tin looks bad it has the dual 1,000 rpm pto tires are 25%. What's it worth in the decribed condition? What's one worth fixed up and painted?. Anything you can tell me is appreciated.

I bought a 1655 with 7500 hours and wrist pin knock and blown head gasket with excellent tires and paint and tin with two base weights and three flat weights for $2000.From what I can recall your three point should lift around 6600 pounds at the cross shaft. As far as price most of these have excellent resale and are probably oliver best all around tractor.Alot of neighbors here have one even if they are red minded or use that other green color.I have seen prices upto $8000 and the tractors are gone.I dont think I can rebuild mine for less than $1000 and as far as your wrist pin question I cant answer it because I dont know myself figure Ill tear it down take it to the shop and see what the man says.I would look at the bills for repair what did they fix just seals or did they replace clutches in the 3 speed did you see proof of replacement on the hydraulic pump?Add another $800 for tires.I cant see giving more than $1500 to $2000( I wouldnt even give $2000).You can look around and buy a good one here for around $5000 avg.Once you give $2000 to buy and another $800 for tires and if engine rebuild goes right and cheap like you want where are you at for price? But at least you will have a new engine new tires and new hydraulics. You know how to paint?

Thanks for the info. Judging by what you paid and got this one is to expencive. I haven't seen the bills for the 3 speed and hyd pump I looked at it when the dealer was closed and only have what the sales man told me over the phone. Tomarrow I plan on going to look at it and hear it run and check out the other idems you can't with out it runing. I will ask to see invoices of the repairs they did the work. The front tires are good and the back would be good enuff I would use duals anyway. As far as painting I have my own equiptment and have painted befour. I use AGCO paint and cost is low. I would also do all work my self.

What serial # is yours? Thanks, Adam Suess

Next time I am to the farm I will check out the number. But when I saw the ad for the tractor I called right away and told the man I would be there at first light, next day man said he had over 30 phone calls.Because you can do the work yourself I think you could pay a little more you can do so much more on a budget when you do alot of it yourself.good friend of mine is a old M.M mechanic and owns a machine shop so I will have him do the machine work, but I plan on tear down and reassemble.

What Highboyford says sounds about right to me. Don't pay more than 2,000, and in like-new condition I'd pay $6-7,000. (If I had that much $ in hand right now!) Good thing is parts are readilly available from many used parts suppliers, because it was a very popular model.
