If it has sat for very long I would put some tranny fluid in the cylinders to loosen up the rings and also help clean any surface rust off the cylinders before I would turn it over much. I do that with any engine that has sat for very long and it does help when I try to start them up because the cylinders and rings are prelubed and the rings are a lot less likely to be sticking also

Any thing over 90PSI will be ok. 90 is about as low as it should be but it will run on less just smoke some. Soaking it with tranny fluid will help a lot. I have a 60 engine and before I did that it had around 80 psi and after it came up to around 110psi so it had stuck rings and the tranny fluid loosened them up

You mean compression pressure correct? To me if it had set that long I would worry more if all 6 cylinders are even. Also do a wet and a dry test test and do the wet test first if it has set a long time and then a couple of days later do the dry test. Confused?

If you can get it running and it does so without a "miss" or smoking you out of the shed then why worry about the compression?

If your having to replace plugs everytime you use it or it ends up not having any power while it blows the oil out the breather then you have a problem to worry about.
