How do you get the knob off the end of the choke and light switch on a 550 Gas? I am re-wiring everything, but cannot get the dash off coz of these darned knobs. Surely I do not have to take out the whole choke wire to get the knob out?
It is very cold up here right now, so I don't want to crack them by trying the wrong thing. I have tried moderate unscrewing to no avail, but will try harder plus lubricant if you tell me they are threaded.
Thanks in advance.

Some knobes just don't come off that way. They all have a retaining nut on the back side of the dash that ya gotta unscrew. Pretty much gonna have to pull the choke cable. It's not that hard, so don't panic...;-)

Light switch knobs (for the turning switch style) are generally held on by a small set screw somwhere under it where it's out of plain sight from the seat. The push/pull light switches the knob should unscrew from the switch no problem.

Thanks Don. Got them off right away. Choke lead out. The trick with the pull/push light switch was to unscrew the knob before unscrewing the rest of the unit.
