I went out to use our S-55 yesterday (20 degrees outside) and the 3 point wouldn"t pick up at all, while it was running, I loosened the filler cap and the hydraulics picked right up. My only thought is that system had a slight vacumm in the resevoir, and the pump wasn"t getting oil. Any other ideas?

Two thoughts: Your breather element is clogged and what are you using for hydraulic fluid?

I will check the breather, it might be covered with paint etc. I am using off the shelf hydraulic fluid (TSC). Thanks

When its cold out my Ford 841 will take up to 5-10 minutes for the 3 point to start working as it should. You may have the same type of problem and it just takes time to warm up the oil to get it working as it should. I know I'm sort of compareing a ford to and Oliver but it might be caused by the oil being so cold

I don't think that problem is unique- all brands do the same thing. My 684 IH tractor takes about 5-10 minutes in cold weather before the 3 point will work right and that's with a new filter.
