Hi guys, I've got a problem with the spin on oil filter adapter on my 2050. I ordered new gaskets that are under the plate, when I got them they are the same gaskets that are under the original canister type filters on my 2150. Anyway, they still leak like mad after replacing them. Seems like I've seen posts on this problem before. Any suggestions?

Been there myself, BA Star is right in stating that there was an update, On the right side of the block if the pressure regulator plate, if it looks to have a sandwhiched piece, then I suspect it will have the anti-drainback check valves and the enlarged relief to crankcase drainback. I do think I recall there was thicker metal spin on adapters but I recall there was only one in AGCO systems, I think you could also get the rubber type gaskets out of some filter co (WIX, BALDWIN) I tried all this about a year ago and definitely was able to stop the leak on one of the two, but later gave up and went the improved base w/o the adapter ...ie White 2-135 or 2-155. Definitely do not leak anymore. If you need the anti-drainback block for the right side of the engine, I have one in some NOS parts I once acquired. Funny thing is I have two, but only one has been machined for the improvement, but both have same Part # written on them.

Your problem is that when the engine and oil is cold this time of year, the pressure is too high and causes the gaskets to fail.

There is a Service Bulletin # 430 595 that covers the problem and the correction.  The problem is that the return drain hole in the crankcase from the pressure relief valve is too small which causes a restriction creating extremely high pressure in the system and to the filter gaskets.  The bulletin outlines the proper part numbers for the gaskets and the proceecure for enlarging the return drain hole in the crankcase.  In the warmer temperatures, the oil viscosity is low enough to allow return flow.  The damage is done upon cold weather startups.

Your dealer should have a copy of the above bulletin, however if they do not I can post a copy, however I will be at the HPOCA Winter Meeting until late Sunday.

Thanks for the ideas. I'll check to see if the bulletin is available although the original White dealer I used to work at has been closed for a long time and my current dealer wasn't an Oliver dealer back then. The later 478 filter/cooler is a good idea but a little pricey I'll bet.
