looking at OLIVER on ebay, I have no experience with OLIVER tractors,owner says it's a 550? $2500. w/loader. good deal ? not ? probably cost me $500. to get it delivered.will apreciate any and all advice. thanks in advance. oh yea,ebay item # 300071675932

I THINK IT WOULD BE A MISTAKE TO BUY IT WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO CHECK IT OUT. I BOUGHT A SUPER 55 A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO THAT WAS ADVERTISED ON THIS SITE. IT LOOKED GOOD IN THE PICTURES, BUT "SMOKES A LITTLE" TURNED OUT TO BE A BROKEN RING ON 3 CYLINDERS. THE PARTS TO OVERHAUL IT COST $700, AND I PULLED & REPLACED THE ENGINE MYSELF. MY MECHANIC FATHER-IN-LAW DID THE OVERHAUL. MY TRACTOR WAS AN INDUSTRIAL MODEL. (GREEN PAINTED OVER YELLOW) I LOVE MY TRACTOR BUT THE $2400 I PAID WAS TOO MUCH FOR THE CONDITION IT WAS IN. JUST MY EXPERIENCED OPINION.

I am currently working on a 550. I am getting a lot of experience from this Tractor. I bought it thinking all it needed was fixing a few oil leaks and getting a paint job. I have got the whole shop covered with parts. It seems the rear ends were weak and i'm having to rework the rearend and the pto. It looks like I am going to have more in parts for rearend than I was counting on spending on getting the tractor restored. I personally wouldn't touch a 550 that had a loader on it. I know how I use a loader tractor and it is exceptionally hard on rearends. The 550 I bought shows no signs of ever having a loader on it. This is just my experience, TC

Are you talking about that yellow one? It sounds (based on the two gear shift levers) like it might be an industrial model. I'd post a "Hey Shep Fla." here and ask him about it. he's a 550 expert. I have a 550 and love it. But I grew up on it and knew it's history. They're handy little tractors.

It looks like its been beaten up a little. I have a Super 55 and I love it. I will say that it looks like it has a front solid axle, if so i think that the front spindles are larger and support more weight for a loader. Thats a good price if everything operates correctly. I just don"t like the looks of the radiator and the bucket. One thing about these is parts are getting harder to find and can be expensive.

Well if it runs well looks pretty good and has good tires and the loader is good thats a very good price. Now if it needs a lot of work and is wore out thats a bad price. I know I would love to own a Super 55 or 550 my self but can't afford to buy one
