I bought an Oliver 77 some time ago. The serial no. on the tractor - E328142 - shows that it is a 1959 Row Crop. BUT - the engine is not original. When you look at it the fan is closer to the radiator and the front motor mount is forward of the original.
The numbers on the motor ar G4 789144. Block has K100C - 190320 and the head is K180-190002G.
II have been told that it is an 88. Is it? or a Super 88.
It pulls really good and I have been very pleased with the performance.
Just would like to know what it is.

Thanks - Ken 46

This post brought back memories. My Dad had a 77 with a super 88 engine. It got traded off in 1966. Wish I had it back. It had a6blade fan on it, but would still overheat on warm days when working hard. It also had a larger clutch, but sometimes it wasn,t large enough and would slip. The hydraulicks were changed to the super style at the same time. The left side shield had a small part cut out at the front to accomodate the larger super 88 air cleaner.

No hydraulics on this one - but it was redone nice- was somewhat stripped to pull with. No PTO - has nice wheelie bars, and of course a nice big Chrome stack!!!!

That is a regular 88 block, BUT it may have super sleeves and pistons or even 3-7/8 inch sleeves and pistons in it. The 77 was built from 1949 thrugh most of 1954. It is not a 59 model, J.
