Wondering how difficult to repair power-booster on oliver 770, it will not shift in or out with booster handle, stuck in high range, what is wrong and how much to repair and also process of rebuilding booster

If it is stuck in high range something is wrong where the handle does not disengage the overcenter hand clutch. You do not split the tractor as was mentioned below. Take the hood sides, hood and fuel tank off. Then take the 4 screws out that hold the cover over the unit. You should be able to see the problem with the linkage to the clutch at that point. J.

Dad and I rebuilt an 880 power booster about 25 years ago, that one had wore the clutch, which on those models is dry, ears into a groove thus locking the clutches engaged and the booster in the high side. The two biggest issues are splitting the engine and transmission far enough to work on the booster, and the special tool to align the booster and the engine for reassembly. We rebuilt the clutch ears with a welder and filed them back to shape. One thing about that particular item is it is not as precision as these new tractors are today. Dad past away 5 years ago and I had sold the tractor about 18 years before that.
